Action for week starting 6.7.20 – Help stop Adani’s Abbot Point coal port

Adani’s Abbot Point coal port project is deeply in debt.  Right now, they are reaching out to banks and finance companies, looking for help to repay the $1 billion debt they owe on Abbot Point in the next two years.

If Adani can be forced to repay their debt on Abbot Point, they can’t then use this money to build their polluting coal mine and rail link. This is the important next step to make it harder for Adani to dig up polluting coal and ship it out through our reef to be burned overseas.

The Australian Marine Conservation Society knows that for our reefs to survive, fossil fuels must be rapidly phased out. It has made it possible for us to send an email to the potential bank funders to urge them not to help fund Adani’s Abbot Point coal port.

The Stop Adani movement has already influenced 36 major banks to rule out funding for Adani’s coal mine. Help take their actions one step further.  Please sign the email to the banks.
